Message by Principal, Mr Seet Tiat Hee
Dear P6 Parents / Students
Why is Juying Secondary a Good Choice School?
If you are looking for a great school to be in after your PSLE, look no further!
In this special edition of our Juying Times, you will find news articles and testimonials of parents and students sharing all the good things that are happening in Juying Secondary School:
Good Philosophy, Beliefs & Vision. We are a nurturing family for students of all abilities and backgrounds as we believe that every student is unique and every student can learn. We envision that every JYian will be a gracious person and a concerned citizen with strength of character.
Good I3-Mission & Values. Our mission is to “Inspire Learning, Inculcate Values, & Impact Lives”. We prepare our students to be future-ready and useful citizens by inculcating theR3IGHT
values and inspiring in them a passion for learning. We build their character through our values-driven programmes, and cultivate in them a love for the arts.
Good, Caring and Competent Teachers. Our teachers are caring, inspiring and go beyond the call of duty. We have 2015 finalists for President’s Award for Teachers Mrs Amy Yeo, 2016 Outstanding Youth in Education recipient Mr Cai Zhiwen, LEAP Teacher recipient Mrs Katherine Leong and Distinguished PS21 Star Service recipient Mr Chen Guowei, as well as many more committed and passionate teachers who strive to do their best for all our students.
Good Discipline. We have adopted the philosophy of “To care is to discipline” and the “Hi-Expectation, Hi-Support, Hi-Care” approach to mould and nurture our students to be self-discipline, self-directed and to always do the right thing even when no one is watching.
Good Character Building Programmes. Our signature Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” programme has helped our students become more focused in their learning and moved from private to public victories. Our Applied Learning Programme in “Oracy skills” prepares our students to become confident speakers while our Learning for Life Programme in “Aesthetics” prepares our students to become gracious individuals who can play a musical instrument or two, and dance gracefully. Our Local and Overseas Learning Values-in-Action programmes develop in our students 21 CC skills, prepare them to become concerned citizens, with global awareness, cross cultural skills and sensitivities.
Good Results. We have achieved Value-Added results in either GCE O and/or N level examination results in the last 3 years, and our students have also done reasonably well at the biennial SYF aesthetics presentations, Robotics Competitions, Uniformed Groups’ Best Unit Competitions, Sports competitions, Essay writing competitions, etc.
Come and visit us at our Open House (Saturday, 26 Nov 2016, 0830 -1230) to meet our teachers and students
