Upcycling Workshop for Class Leaders
The Upcycling Workshop saw the Class Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons creating upcycled gift packaging under the guidance of Ms Dee, an experienced D&T teacher, and Mr Tan, HOD ICT. In line with the school’s gracious culture, the class leaders fervently designed appreciative notes and decorated their gifts for their form teachers; wonderfully surprising them!
In the second part of the workshop, class leaders were led by SH/SLD Mrs Chan to discover the considerations that goes into planning class-based activities, and how they could empower their class committee to work together to create a positive class culture.
2022 Student Leaders’ Investiture
On 22 March, 300+ student leaders across the different leadership boards were installed at the 2022 Student Leaders’ Investiture. This marks the beginning of the leadership journey for most of them and renewal for those who have served as student leaders previously. Together, may they form a community of leaders who will work together to enable a positive school culture, and shining their light on their peers.
Nanyang Sayang Engagement, by JYSC, NCDCC & NCC(SEA) leaders
Over the March holidays, a group of CCA leaders from Student Council, NCDCC and NCC(SEA) led their CCA peers to conduct a round of engagement with children (majority in their primary levels) living in the Nanyang community, in partnership with Nanyang CCC. Service to the community has helped our students and student leaders develop desirable soft skills that would be beneficial to them in the future.
Student Leaders’ Day, by 2021 JYSC & CCA Leaders
The Student Leaders’ Day was a memorable event for 2021 Student Council ExCos and CCA Leaders, who had came together to articulate their leadership growth and appreciate the intentional efforts that the school and teachers have taken to develop them before they stepped down.
During the event, the student leaders collectively presented the school leaders with gift of Mountains, in line with theme of the event, to symbolise the challenges they faced and the wonderful experiences they’ve gained through leading their respective CCAs. We wish the 2021 Student Leaders’ the very best in their upcoming national exams!
Class Leaders’ Onboarding Training
Over 200+ new Class Leaders were on boarded in the Class Leaders’ Training on 9 February. On this day, new Class Leaders’ were shared of their roles and responsibilities and what it meant to lead others, as well as to receive role-specific training that would help them excel in their roles. On the same day, Class Leaders were given opportunities to know and interact with fellow class leaders. Overall, the Class Leaders echoed that the training was incredibly useful to assimilate into their roles!
Student Leaders’ Appreciation
14 January saw us celebrating the heart and hard work of all of our 2021 Student Leaders, namely the Class Leaders, CCA Leaders, Student Councillors and Orientation Group Leaders. In their own capacities, they have put in tremendous effort and work with their respective teachers to positively impact their class, CCA, school and the wider Nanyang community. We say thank you to our 2021 Student Leaders!
